Commercial and domestic flue and ventilation specialist. As a 50-year-old multi-award-winning business, we are very proud to have become the UK market leaders in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of commercial and industrial chimney, flue, exhaust and quench pipe vent systems.

What We Do
We work for a range of clients in the private, commercial and defence industries and are proud of the fact that most of our work is referred or repeat orders from loyal clients.
They have come to respect our ability to deliver projects on time, particularly when against a deadline, and the expert knowledge of our highly skilled technical team.
We work with many of the major UK mechanical and engineering contractors and have been involved in many prestigious chimney and flue projects.
We have won a string of national, trade and regional awards over the years.

Since 1973
Today, we operate from our headquarters in Boughton, near Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, where all our manufacturing takes place.
Our offices were purpose built and comprise of over 54,000 square ft. of workshop space, which houses the latest in precision engineering machinery and equipment.

Meet Our Team
The business is run by three directors, who collectively have over 90 years’ experience. Working together, they continue to uphold our values of excellence, pride, passion and precision to ensure our clients receive a dedicated service from the start of a project right through to completion and aftercare.
John Hamnett
Managing Director
John took over as Managing Director in summer 2019 and has overall responsibility for the running of the business.
He joined A1 straight from school in 1986; in that time, he has manufactured, installed, designed, and engineered flue and chimney systems.
John has become an industry expert and is a regular commentator on issues relating to flues and chimneys.
Outside of work, John can regularly be seen in the gym or on a Rugby pitch.
Alberto Pirotta

Alberto took over the position of CEO at A1 in Jan 2024. He has been working in the flues industry for 30 years, taking over responsibilities on every sectors: Sales, Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Production, HSEQ.Master Graduated Civil Engineer at the University of “Politecnico di Milano”

Claire Hamnett
Finance / HR Manager
Claire has overall financial responsibility for A1 and is the companies Human Resource Manager. Claire works closely with the Directors and Managers.
For her no two days are the same and she enjoys the challenge.
Claire joined the team in 2011.
Outside of work she enjoys travel and spending time with her children and family.
