The project
The Essex Brewery is a collection of 158 one-, two- and three-bedroomed apartments, most available as shared ownership and some with specialist wheelchair access, in the vibrant Walthamstow district of East London. Complemented by restaurants and small shop units, the homes are set around an inner courtyard. All have private outside space and the added benefit of access to a garden terrace. They are close to underground and mainline rail links. Built by Crest Nicholson, the development is located on a former brewery site, as the name suggests. It is part of a larger regeneration project for the Waltham Forest area of London.
Our design
A1 Flue Systems was commissioned by Hertfordshire-based DPC Plumbing & Heating to manufacture, deliver and install at this major new housing project. Two 80mm-diameter CHP units were connected to rise into a main 150mm header system, running horizontally through to a 90-degree base tee and drain, then rising vertically to straight termination. Connections to three boilers were picked up, rising into a main header system, running to a 90-degree base tee and drain, continuing up 28 metres to termination. The installation carried full CE marking accreditation under certificate number 0086-CPR-599465. The entire A1 Flue Systems product range is manufactured and fitted in accordance with the ISO 9001:2008 Quality System.
Comments
“We specified the CHP and boiler flue system to the entire satisfaction of the client, then set about installation. Our CHP system into a common header ran up six floors of this housing scheme, picking up the boilers on the way. It was straightforward, but the client seemed delighted with the efficient way we carried out the project, on time and to budget.”
